Webmaster's Note: Eventhough the rivers on this page are non-federally protected Missouri rivers (hence my URL link: non-scenic rivers), I've decided to start a small compilation of links for some of the more popular rivers and creeks that I frequently get hits for on this website. They are the Black River, Courtois Creek, Huzzah Creek, Meramec River, and Niangua River; which are still some of Missouri's most beautiful waterways. MissouriScenicRivers.com mainly caters to resource links for Missouri's Current River, Jacks Fork (apart of the Ozark National Scenic Riverways system), and the Eleven Point River (apart of the Wild & Scenic Rivers system). These are the only 3 rivers in Missouri that are federally protected. If you desire total pristine, secluded, backcountry rivers that have almost no public or private developments along or near them (ie. houses, businesses, etc.), then these are the Missouri rivers to visit. And when I say almost, I mean 99.9% developement free along the majority of these rivers. In my opinion, they are the top 3 rivers in Missouri to camp and hike near, fish in or float on if you desire COMPLETE solitude and serenity. |
